Worksite Traffic Supervisor
A Worksite Traffic Supervisor is a pre-qualified individual who is responsible for ensuring the proper installation and maintenance of traffic control devices on ODOT projects. This role is crucial to ensuring that all traffic control devices meet the required standards as outlined in project plans, specifications, and the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).

A Worksite Traffic Supervisor is a pre-qualified individual who is responsible for ensuring the proper installation and maintenance of traffic control devices on ODOT projects. This role is crucial to ensuring that all traffic control devices meet the required standards as outlined in project plans, specifications, and the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
Key Responsibilities of a Worksite Traffic Supervisor:
- Ensuring the proper installation and maintenance of traffic control devices
- Addressing any traffic-related issues
- Ensuring that traffic control devices can be installed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and the MUTCD, including initial setup and adjustments for traffic phase changes
- Promptly reporting any problems discovered prior to installation (e.g., sign conflicts, installation issues) to the Project Engineer (PE) or Project Supervisor (PS) for resolution
- On-site Management: Directly involved in the daily operations at the construction site, managing tasks, resolving issues, and ensuring everyone follows safety protocols
- Assigning tasks, monitoring progress, managing resources (including materials and equipment), enforcing safety regulations, and reporting back to superiors
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in roadway construction or traffic control
- Knowledge of ODOT requirements
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required)
- Active membership in, or ability to join, the appropriate Construction Union
